10 down...

Ten of my designs are now complete, sprayed with a protective layer and photographed ready to sell, with several more currently waiting for my day off so that they will also be ready to party.

The show is going on!

So, my work is up at the exhibition. Over the last month certain things have pushed me to work harder on my art work, as soon as my work comes down, I will be getting my Canon out, taking some swanky pictures and my jewellery will be going up on Etsy for the world to love and give it a new home (hopefully). I am hoping to do something Christmas inspired too, as well as experimenting with some other new designs. I am also painting more often and hoping to incorporate some of my paintings in to my designs and possibly sell them alongside my jewellery but above all, painting makes me feel more inspired and give me lots of new ideas.

Exhibition time!

I am making some paintings to go with some new plastic pieces I have made for the exhibition 'An unofficial Alumni' which showcases art by working artists who have studied or taught at the University Campus Barnsley over the nine years before its closure this year. The brief for my particular project is as follows:

Since I left University in 2011 I have continued to produce art work in some shape or form, when I have the time I like to work on printmaking but I am currently producing plastic jewellery with hand drawn images on them. I have been concentrating on buildings as I think these are the things that people remember most about a place, as I know I do, I also like the detail you can put in to them. So I thought it appropriate to show works similar to this for this exhibition as it would relate well to the point of the exhibition being about people continuing to produce art after graduating from Barnsley Uni. I have a few pieces I'd like to include as well as some new ones I am working on, I am also planning some watercolour paintings to go alongside these pieces. Some of my pieces are scenes from in and around Barnsley, some include buildings and some are more nature based, others are from further afar but my theme is to show the appreciation people have of their hometowns and how this should not be forgotten as every place has it's wonders that you can remember and be proud of. I want to show with my art some key areas from places that I find memorable and beautiful. I think sometimes people forget how lovely the places are that we live in, I have seen people doing this with Barnsley a lot recently and so this is what encouraged me to do this project.

Little Update.

I have been working on some new pieces, including the Disney Princess Castle, the Eiffel Tower and the Leaning Tower of Pisa, as well as the adding of colour to the Royal Albert Hall since my last snap shot. I think once these are done and I add a final coat of protection then I'll be ready to set up my online store to find charming new homes for them all. I've also been encouraged to display them in my local gallery as my lovely friend has been wearing her necklace of our local town hall and I have been told it has received some sweet comments, how exciting!

Nature Calls.

These are my finished pieces from the drawings of branches I had done a while ago. I'm glad they didn't turn out how I pictured them in my head as it adds to the unpredictability that I was going for.
One has been done on white plastic and then other on clear and I keep changing my mind about which is  my favourite. I like how the leaves curl and how only a small amount of colour brings it all together. I may have to experiment with more nature pieces!

Progress.

I am successfully coming up with lots of ideas for new designs to add to my collection and have began creating a few of them. New buildings as well as dabbling with a some organic ideas, using photographs I've taken as inspiration for pattern and shape. I want the plastic to look less controlled, so I'm going to experiment with twisting and bending it and using less obvious shapes so that the designs can relate to the unpredictability and spontaneity of nature, where as my architecture pieces are more structured, logical and precise, as the construction of a building would be.

Bananary!

Apart from discovering that quite a lot of people don't like banana, my first buns in the new flat were a success, chocolate a banana loveliness! Must find time to bake more often.
